Just a heads up, and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.
I had originally booked LAX-SFO,SFO-IAD-YYZ on UA. At the last minute, my plans in SFO fell through, and since I had only planned to be in SFO for 10h (leaving same day), I figured I'd see if I could use the free same-day standby option* to skip SFO entirely and get to YYZ sooner.
The checkin agent at LAX was able to put me on standby for LAX-IAD-YYZ, and when I asked, she assured me my Aeroplan number was in the itinerary. However, when I was issued my boarding pass for LAX-IAD at the gate at LAX, it didn't show my Aeroplan number. I didn't notice this at the time.

In IAD, when I got my boarding pass for IAD-YYZ, I noticed my Aeroplan number wasn't on it, so the gate agent printed me a new boarding pass with my Aeroplan number on it.
A few days later, when I checked the Aeroplan website, as I suspected, the IAD-YYZ segment had been credited, but LAX-IAD had not.
I've just mailed in the BP, etc. to Aeroplan; hopefully my missing miles will be credited without any trouble. It looks like I may need them this year to make Elite (too bad reward travel doesn't accumulate miles, or I wouldn't have to worry).
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else when flying standby? It's a frustrating reminder of the importance of checking your boarding pass for the Aeroplan number.
* note to AC: free same-day standby would be a nice thing to copy from UA, at least for Elites
Happens all the time. I have had my UA boarding pass with the Aeroplan number on it, and the points don't show up in my account. PHL is notoriously bad for some reason.
It's a pain to send them in, but not a big deal.
In the future, try to find an Easy Chicken machine and enter it in yourself. UA has two spots for FF numbers and the agents almost always update the wrong one.
