I am looking for a book that I loved when I was growing up in the 50s.
I haven't seen it since, but I now have three little granddaughters
who love books, and I would like to share this with them.
The story and illustrations were simple, the colors mostly blues and
greens. The main character was a little island girl, brown skin, long
hair. I don't even remember the story (very sparse text) but I think
of the illustrations very, very often. This was a small book, about
the size and length of a Golden Book.

Please let me know if this is the correct book.
I am delighted to learn that my guess was correct!
"Ukelele and Her New Doll" was a favorite of mine in the early 1950s
when I was a little girl. Your description sure brought back some
memories. I'll bet your granddaughters will love it.
